As the manufacturing process advances to 3 nm, 2 nm, and even smaller nodes, competition in the semiconductor industry is no longer confined to chip design and fabrication. The self-sufficiency of core production equipment, key supporting materials, and precision components has become a crucial measure of a country's hard power in the semiconductor sector. Advanced structural ceramics such as alumina, silicon nitride, silicon carbide, and high-purity yttria, with their ultra-high purity, excellent plasma corrosion resistance, high-temperature stability, low dielectric loss, and high precision dimensional stability, have become indispensable materials in core processes such as etching, thin-film deposition, lithography, wafer handling, and cleaning.

However, the global market for high-end semiconductor ceramic components such as electrostatic chucks, gas showerheads, focus rings, and heaters has long been dominated by overseas leaders, with core technologies ranging from high-purity powder preparation to component manufacturing largely held by foreign companies. Driven by the wave of wafer fab expansions in China, a number of domestic semiconductor equipment companies are accelerating their efforts, achieving continuous progress in technological breakthroughs and mass production, while steadily increasing market penetration. Nevertheless, in terms of local supply of critical ceramic components, most domestic enterprises still focus on mid-to-low-end general-purpose ceramic products. They face challenges such as immature processes in high-purity control, near-net shape forming, precision machining, and surface treatment, as well as poor batch-to-batch stability and insufficient mass production capacity. Moreover, long validation cycles severely restrict the entry of domestically made components into core international supply chains.
It cannot be ignored that, with the global restructuring of semiconductor supply chains, continuous increases in domestic industrial support policies, and surging demand for localized procurement from downstream wafer fabs, the ceramic components industry for semiconductor applications is embracing an unprecedented window of opportunity. Amidst both opportunities and challenges, how local enterprises can accurately seize the industry's momentum, break through technical bottlenecks, narrow the gap with foreign counterparts, and build an independent industrial chain has become a core issue of common concern and urgent resolution for the entire industry.
