The Boron Nitride Ceramic Sealing Ring is a high-performance sealing component made from advanced boron nitride ceramic material. This material, often referred to as "white graphite," is a synthetic ceramic known for exceptional thermal stability, chemical inertness, and lubricity. Sealing rings are commonly fabricated from hot pressed boron nitride (HBN) or premium grades like Momentive boron nitride, which provide a balance of strength and machinability. For the most extreme purity and performance in vacuum or semiconductor environments, rings may also utilize pyrolytic boron nitride (PBN) or feature a PBN coating. This unique combination of properties makes ceramic boron nitride ideal for demanding sealing applications in extreme environments where conventional materials fail.

Product Performance
Boron nitride ceramic sealing rings exhibit outstanding performance, largely defined by their unique crystal structure. They possess excellent thermal shock resistance and their high boron nitride thermal conductivity (a key parameter often discussed as BN thermal conductivity or the thermal conductivity of boron nitride) facilitates rapid heat dissipation from the sealing interface. Specifically, the hexagonal boron nitride thermal conductivity (hBN thermal conductivity) is highly anisotropic, which can be engineered in components. They are excellent electrical boron nitride insulators and maintain properties at high temperatures. Their remarkable chemical resistance and self-lubricating nature reduce friction and wear. Furthermore, machinable boron nitride grades allow for the precision boron nitride machining of complex sealing geometries.
Products Applications
These sealing rings are used in severe-service applications. Common uses include: high-temperature and vacuum furnaces (often employing PBN or nitrure de bore pyrolytique components); pumps and valves handling corrosive chemicals; semiconductor manufacturing (MOCVD, crystal growth) where pyrolytic boron nitride PBN crucibles and coatings are standard; aerospace and advanced engines; and metallurgy for handling molten metals. The utility of boron nitride ceramics extends beyond rings to boron nitride sheets, BN sheets, boron nitride ceramic sheets, and boron nitride plates used as insulators, shrouds, and components in these same industries, leveraging the material's boron nitride conductivity (thermal) and isolation (electrical) properties.
