Products Description
Alumina ceramic substrate, also commonly referred to as aluminum oxide ceramic, Al₂O₃ ceramic, or simply alumina, is a fundamental ceramic material primarily composed of aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃). This compound, known chemically as aluminium oxide and in various languages as óxido de aluminio, aluminyum oksit, or aluminiumoxid, serves as the core constituent. Often termed ceramic alumina or aluminium ceramic, it is widely used across various industries due to its excellent comprehensive properties. Through processes such as forming and high-temperature sintering, it achieves high density (typical density of Al₂O₃ is 3.7-3.9 g/cm³) and excellent mechanical, thermal, and electrical performance, making it distinct from other technical ceramics like those from a zirconia manufacturer or SiC tiles. It is one of the most commonly used and typical ceramic substrate materials in electronic and structural applications, available in forms such as alumina sheets, alumina plates, and specialized shapes like porous alumina tubes.

Products Performance
- High Mechanical Strength: It exhibits high hardness and good wear resistance, with bending strength typically ranging from 300 to 400 MPa (depending on the alumina content and process).
- Excellent Insulation Properties: It has high volume resistivity and dielectric strength, making it suitable for high-voltage and high-frequency applications, a key reason what is alumina sought after in electronics.
- Good Thermal Conductivity: Its thermal conductivity is significantly higher than that of ordinary ceramics, facilitating heat dissipation (typically 18-30 W/(m·K) for Al₂O₃ content of 96%-99%).
- High-Temperature Stability: It can operate stably over long periods in high-temperature environments (typically up to 1500-1700°C) without deformation or melting.
- Chemical Stability: It is resistant to corrosion from most acids, alkalis, and other chemicals, and demonstrates good resistance to oxidation and reduction.
- Low Dielectric Loss: It has a low dielectric constant and loss tangent, making it suitable for high-frequency circuits.
Product Application
- Electronics and Semiconductor Packaging: Used as substrates for thick-film and thin-film circuits, chip carriers, and heat dissipation components (e.g., in power modules, LED mounts). This is a primary use for the alumina ceramic substrate.
- Industrial and Automotive Electronics: Applied in spark plug insulators, sensor housings, and circuit substrates for high-temperature or high-voltage environments.
- Laser and Optoelectronic Fields: Utilized as mounting bases for laser tubes and heat sinks for high-power optical devices, often using precisely made alumina plates.
- Medical Devices: Employed in components for medical instruments, such as insulating parts and biocompatible housings.
- Thermal Management: Serves as heat spreaders or insulating pads in devices requiring efficient heat dissipation.
- High-Frequency Communication: Used in microwave components, antenna substrates, and RF modules due to its low dielectric loss.
- Specialized and Filtration Applications: Porous alumina ceramics, including porous alumina tubes and discs, are applied in filtration, diffusion, and catalyst support. Materials like alumina oxide ceramic fiber are used for high-temperature insulation.
- Special Environments: Applied in aerospace, chemical, and metallurgical industries for components requiring high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance (e.g., tubi in allumina or alumina cerâmica for chemical processing).
