Products Description
Zinc oxide (ZnO) ceramics are semiconductor ceramic materials primarily composed of zinc oxide as the main crystalline phase, doped with additives such as bismuth oxide (Bi₂O₃) and cobalt oxide (CoO). Their key characteristic is a nonlinear resistance effect, making them highly suitable for electronic circuit protection applications. Compared to traditional ceramics, ZnO ceramics exhibit a 30% improvement in wear resistance and demonstrate excellent anti-contamination properties.
Zinc oxide (ZnO) ceramics find applications across multiple industries including electronic circuit protection, architectural ceramics, and environmental protection technologies. In terms of manufacturing processes, nano-scale ZnO technology can be employed to leverage quantum size effects, thereby enhancing sintering activity and electrical performance. Notably, ZnO ceramics exhibit low carbon emissions per unit product, qualifying them as an environmentally sustainable manufacturing solution.
Products Advantages
- Outstanding nonlinear electrical performance: This is its core feature. Under normal voltage, it presents a high-resistance state (insulator); when the voltage exceeds its critical value (varistor voltage), the resistance drops sharply, allowing a large current to pass through, thereby effectively absorbing and discharging overvoltage energy.
- Extremely fast response speed: The response time to voltage surges is in the nanosecond range, capable of quickly suppressing surges and protecting subsequent circuits.
- Large current handling capacity: A single ceramic body can absorb and dissipate very high transient current energy, with reliable performance.
- Good stability: It features excellent long-term operational stability and multiple impact endurance.
- Inherent capacitance: Due to the similar microstructure, it inherently possesses a certain capacitance value, which needs to be taken into account when used in high-frequency circuits.
- Weather resistance and chemical stability: Zinc oxide ceramic materials themselves are resistant to high temperatures, oxidation, and corrosion, and can adapt to various environments.

Main Applications
Due to its excellent pressure-sensitive properties, zinc oxide ceramic plates are mainly used as core components in surge protection and voltage stabilization fields:
Surge Protective Device (SPD):
- Power system protection: Applied to low-voltage distribution systems and equipment power entry points, it guards against lightning-induced overvoltage and operational overvoltage. It is the core valve plate of surge arresters (surge protectors).
- Communication and signal line protection: It is used to protect telephone lines, data lines, signal transmission lines, etc., to prevent overvoltage from damaging sensitive communication equipment.
- Electronic device protection: Integrated into circuit boards of various household appliances and industrial control equipment, serving as primary or secondary protection components.
High-voltage and ultra-high-voltage power systems:
As valve plates of metal oxide arresters (MOA), they are used in substations, transmission lines, etc., replacing traditional silicon carbide arresters and are the main force in overvoltage protection of modern power systems.
Other special fields:
- Voltage stabilizing components: By taking advantage of their nonlinear characteristics, they achieve voltage stabilization in some simple circuits.
- Pressure-sensitive sensor: By taking advantage of its nonlinear voltage-current relationship, special sensing elements are fabricated.
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection: ESD protection for integrated circuits and precision equipment.
